Our teachers are talented! Valéry Didelon, winner of the 2022 Architecture Book Prize

The Academy of Architecture awarded the 2nd prize for the architecture book to Valéry Didelon for his book La Déconstruction de la ville européenne. Euralille 1988-1995. Éditions de La Villette. 2021.
In this book, the author revisits Euralille, a controversial urban planning operation of the late twentieth century. In particular, he explores the logic of the neoliberal construction of the city through the actions and positions of three of its main protagonists: the architect Rem Koolhaas, the mayor Pierre Mauroy and the developer Jean-Paul Baïetto.

Meeting - Resilience Forum

Pavillon des transitions, Rouen

The project La Marche des Mille Pattes is a territorial research-action carried out by the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Normandie. Students walk from the Cauchois plateau to the Seine Valley, discovering the landscape on foot during two days of immersion. From their logbooks, a tale of the loops of the Norman Seine has been realized, completed by a cartographic work and analysis both sensitive and scientific. This work allows to develop a new methodology of approach of the territory.

Conference - Đồng nát-Recyclable waste in Hanoi, dynamic spaces in the city

30 – Jean Duminy Amphitheater –

This conference is the presentation of the result of a research action on the network of recyclable waste collectors that irrigates the city of Hanoi and can respond to the contemporary concerns of the whole world on the management of "garbage". Through this research based on field action, the authors were able to raise awareness and place the environment at the heart of citizens' concerns. This in situ experimentation with the collectors allowed for the testing of several interdisciplinary scientific methods. It organizes an open dialogue between the multiple actors of this original treatment of waste turned resource, a dialogue ranging from the "Đồng nát" to the elected officials of Hanoi through the officials of the Vietnamese ministries concerned as well as the French Development Agency. This work sheds light on this selective collection system initiated by a post-war economy. What is done here, could find a resonance elsewhere.

Conference - Sustainability and resilience design support tools for building renovation

16h - 18h - Jean Duminy Amphitheater

Transition of the building sector is critical to achieve sustainable development and climate neutrality. The largest reduction potentials in this challenge lie in upgrading existing buildings. Architects can make a significant contribution through their design approach, such as considering local climate conditions and making responsible use of environmental resources.
Given the need to consider several interacting factors, multi-criteria assessment tools have been developed to assist decision-makers from different scales and subjects in striking a balance and so selecting more sustainable and integrated design actions. Green Building Rating Systems and Resilience Assessment Tools are discussed in detail, with an emphasis on their features and benefits for renovation.

Lia Marchi: Architect, Ph.D, Adjunct professor. University of Bologna, Department of Architecture.

Organization: Noura Arab and François Fleury.

As part of the S07 "Theory" and S09 - Draq "Theory of Architecture" courses.
