On Friday, December 13, 2024, teams of architecture students fromENSA Normandie engineering students from Unilasalle took part in a Hackathon day organized by the Normandy Chamber of Agriculture, in partnership with AC3A (Association of Atlantic Arc Chambers of Agriculture).

During this day devoted to the European SCALE UP project, they developed proposals for innovative bio-sourced products for the building industry, in groups of 5, pairing architects and engineers. Numerous avenues were opened up, covering prefabricated earth and reed load-bearing block systems, watertight joint solutions and mycelium panels.

On Thursday, December 5,ENSA Normandie proudlyENSA Normandie its 120th anniversary! This milestone event brought together around 150 people from the teaching staff, students, alumni, and colleagues in a friendly atmosphere, in the presence of Abdelkrim Marchani, Vice President of Higher Education for the Rouen Normandy Metropolis, and Jean-Baptiste Marie, Chairman of the School's Board of Directors.

The round-table discussion, moderated by Anne-Marie Châtelet, Honorary Professor at ENSA Strasbourg, and Pascal Rollet, Professor at ENSA Grenoble and partner in the Lipsky-Rollet Architectes practice, gave rise to enriching reflections on the links between education and architecture. Many thanks to them for accepting this invitation.

The "120 Years of Architectural Education" exhibition also allowed us to revisit our history and imagine our future through the voices of our students. Thanks to exhibition curators Claire Rosset, Sébastien Cherruet, Manon Pouille, Julien Choppin and Marina Ramirez.

Friday, December 6, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. - Salle Viollet-le-Duc - France

Atelier Iris Chervet blends architecture, urban planning and landscape through a cross-disciplinary approach in which attention to natural environments takes precedence over the organization of built environments.
The aim is to re-establish the essential relationship between man and his territory, by designing "inhabited environments". The interweaving of scales, from large territories to local uses, makes it possible to imagine a symbiotic relationship between city and landscape, and to design the resilience of territories most exposed to risks, in particular coastal areas. The workshop draws on geography as a fundamental basis for urban planning, enabling us to project the transformation of territories in the light of current and future climate change.

Construction and public works waste accounts for 70% of national waste, including 25% from buildings, and the building sector in France emits 25% of the greenhouse gases responsible for climate change. To drastically reduce this impact, we need to make do with what's already there: existing buildings and materials. Private and public players, as well as secondary and higher education establishments in the Normandy region, have announced the creation of the GRAND CHANTIER association in Le Havre, with the aim of reducing the environmental impact of the construction sector for maximum social benefit, based on the reintroduction and massification of reuse as a predominant practice.

GRAND CHANTIER brings together players such as the Université Le Havre Normandie, the École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Normandie, Colas France Agence Bâtiment, the social housing company Logeo Seine (Groupe Action Logement), the PERMAC association, Hangar Zéro and the Archipel Zéro architectural firm. The aim is to encourage the emergence of a construction materials recycling industry in the Seine Axis region.

The Atelier S7 teaching team(Joseph Altuna, Dominique Lefrançois and Gabriella Trotta-Brambilla) is a finalist for the Prix de l'Innovation Pédagogique Jean-François Fiorina, organized by the Conférence des Grandes Écoles, for the "Ateliers hors-les-murs" organized with UniLaSalle in Rives-en-Seine and Duclair. These immersive workshops mobilize multidisciplinarity and collaboration with local players to train the future designers of territorial transition in Normandy.

Thursday, December 5 - An evening rich in reflection and celebration!

A round-table discussion begins at 6pm, where experts will explore the links between education and architecture, questioning how teaching shapes spaces. This will be followed at 7pm by the opening of the exhibition "120 years of architectural education! Places, figures and perspectives", which traces the evolution of the school and gives students the chance to express their views on the future of their establishment.

To mark its 120th anniversary,ENSA Normandie the links between education and architecture. How is teaching embodied in the premises of an institution? And in what ways can education lead to the transformation of spaces or the creation of new ones? Anne-Marie Châtelet, scientific director of the HEnsA20 research project on the history of architecture education, will participate in this round table discussion alongside Pascal Rollet, architect with Florence Lipsky of the Grands Ateliers de l'Isle d'Abeau, where innovative pedagogy has been developed since the 2000s.

Opening at 7pm - 120 years of architectural education! Places, figures and perspectives

The École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Normandie was the first architecture school to open in the French provinces, and this year celebrates the 120th anniversary of its founding and the 40th anniversary of its move to its current premises. To mark the occasion, the "120 years of architectural education" exhibition is divided into two sections, to sketch the portrait of a teaching method that is constantly evolving.

1904-2024...
A work based on archives and recent scientific research reviews the evolution of architectural education in Rouen. The exhibition highlights the different locations occupied by the school over the years, and some of the singular figures who have left their mark on its walls. The intersection of these histories allows us to examine the specific moments and practices that have shaped the school's multiple identities.

... and today, already tomorrow
The second part of the exhibition is built around a scale model of the school, allowing visitors to appreciate what already exists and to envisage future changes. The exhibition then gives the floor to Master's students. Based on a critical analysis of the current state of their establishment, they question the school's future through the detailed transformation of the spaces they experience. This proposal is a way of imagining the evolution of teaching facilities through pedagogy itself.
