Rendering - The body of possibilities

Friday, November 22, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Salle Tadao Ando -

After a performance on the theme of shadow, students in the "le corps des possibles" workshop continue their exploration of the body as a tool of representation. Today's proposal is based on the deconstruction of one's partner's face through drawing and make-up colors (black, white, red). Each recomposed face will be filmed, during the execution of a slight movement, and photographed against a black background.
What mirror will these faces hold up to us?

Exhibition - 120 years of architectural education!

Thursday, December 5 - An evening rich in reflection and celebration!

A round-table discussion begins at 6pm, where experts will explore the links between education and architecture, questioning how teaching shapes spaces. This will be followed at 7pm by the opening of the exhibition "120 years of architectural education! Places, figures and perspectives", which traces the evolution of the school and gives students the chance to express their views on the future of their establishment.

Round table at 6 p.m. - A school, a history, a project

To mark its 120th anniversary,ENSA Normandie the links between education and architecture. How is teaching embodied in the premises of an institution? And in what ways can education lead to the transformation of spaces or the creation of new ones? Anne-Marie Châtelet, scientific director of the HEnsA20 research project on the history of architecture education, will participate in this round table discussion alongside Pascal Rollet, architect with Florence Lipsky of the Grands Ateliers de l'Isle d'Abeau, where innovative pedagogy has been developed since the 2000s.

Round table moderators: Sébastien Cherruet, senior lecturer, and Claire Rosset, research engineer, ENSA Normandie

Opening at 7pm - 120 years of architectural education! Places, figures and perspectives

The École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Normandie was the first architecture school to open in the French provinces, and this year celebrates the 120th anniversary of its founding and the 40th anniversary of its move to its current premises. To mark the occasion, the "120 years of architectural education" exhibition is divided into two sections, to sketch the portrait of a teaching method that is constantly evolving.

1904-2024...
A work based on archives and recent scientific research reviews the evolution of architectural education in Rouen. The exhibition highlights the different locations occupied by the school over the years, and some of the singular figures who have left their mark on its walls. The intersection of these histories allows us to examine the specific moments and practices that have shaped the school's multiple identities.

... and today, already tomorrow
The second part of the exhibition is built around a scale model of the school, allowing visitors to appreciate what already exists and to envisage future changes. The exhibition then gives the floor to Master's students. Based on a critical analysis of the current state of their establishment, they question the school's future through the detailed transformation of the spaces they experience. This proposal is a way of imagining the evolution of teaching facilities through pedagogy itself.

Exhibition curators: For the "1904-2024" section: Manon Pouille, researcher; Sébastien Cherruet, lecturer and Claire Rosset, research engineer. ... and today, already tomorrow" section: Julien Choppin, associate lecturer and Marina Ramirez, lecturer.

Raphaël Labrunye elected President of the ENSA(P) Directors' College

On September 26, 2024, the board of directors of the ENSA(P) met and elected Raphaël Labrunye, director ofENSA Normandie, as its president for a two-year term. He succeeds François Brouat, former director of ENSA Paris-Belleville, who has retired.

In addition to Raphaël Labrunye, the college's executive committee has been renewed:
-Agnès Blondin, Director of ENSA Toulouse,
-Anne d'Orazio, Director of ENSA Paris La Villette,
-Jean-Baptiste de Froment, Director of ENSA Paris Malaquais,
-Cédric Libert, Director, ENSA St Etienne
- Gaëlle Perraudin, Director, ENSA Nancy

François Brouat, 9 years as Chairman

The entire college would like to pay tribute to the determined action of François Brouat, who chaired the college between 2015 and 2024. His term of office was marked by the implementation of the reform of the ENSA(P) statutes in 2018, which consolidated the ENSA(P)'s position in higher education with co-supervision by the Ministries of Culture and Higher Education and Research. This development has been accompanied by the creation of teaching relief positions to enable teacher-researchers to carry out their research mission.

Raphaël Labrunye, new Chairman

The new presidency's priority is the evolution of the ENSA(P) model, following on from the two IGAC/IGESR reports (2021 and 2022), that of MP Holroyd (2023) and that of the HCERES (2023), while awaiting that of the Cour des Comptes for 2025.
"Together with our supervisory ministries, we have all the data we need to move our ENSA(P) towards a more integrated model of higher education and research, while at the same time promoting our own expertise in the field of architectural, urban and landscape design. The ability of architects and landscape architects to design and implement projects in complex situations is essential if we are to meet the environmental and societal challenges that lie ahead.

Transitions and innovations for tomorrow's architects and landscapers

The next projects to be undertaken by this college of directors will focus on overhauling the organization of architectural studies, currently governed by decrees dating back to 2005. In particular, the aim is to diversify incoming and outgoing student career paths, in conjunction with our university partners, to strengthen links with the professional world, and to enhance research activities in architecture in order to combine the act of designing with scientific expertise. New digital tools such as artificial intelligence, and the new challenges of preserving the living world, are re-interrogating the skills and know-how of the industry.
"The submission of the "Transition archi" project to the "Compétences et Métiers d'avenir" call for expressions of interest, which we hope to win, is part of this approach. It brings together the 20 ENSA(P), INSA Strasbourg, the only engineering school to offer a degree in architecture, INSA Blois, which offers a diploma in landscape design, as do ENSAP Bordeaux and ENSAP Lille, the École de Chaillot, which trains heritage architects and state urban planners, Amàco, an association specializing in eco-construction training, as well as the Conseil National de l'Ordre des Architectes and the Réseau des organismes de formations des architectes. The project sets two priority themes, digital and ecological transitions, and proposes 4 axes: teacher training, the introduction of sandwich courses, continuing education for professionals and the development of doctoral programs".
By bringing together all the players in the sector, the project aims to implement a global evolution of training on a national scale.

Raphaël Labrunye's career

A DPLG-certified architect and graduate of ENSA Normandie ENSA Versailles, Raphaël Labrunye is pursuing a PhD in architectural history at the University of Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. He was appointed lecturer at ENSA Bretagne in 2014, then atENSA Normandie 2018. He took over as director ofENSA Normandie February 2019 and was reappointed for a second term in 2022. In this capacity, he is an administrator of COMUE Normandie Université, of whichENSA Normandie is a member. Under his leadership,ENSA Normandie a member of the winning consortia of the PIA3 "Resources" (hybrid teaching) with Amàco, 6 ENSA(P) and INSA Lyon, and the PIA4 "Polycampus" Excellence with the University of Le Havre Normandy and Esadhar, "Transition" with the University of Rouen Normandy and INSA Rouen Normandy.

National schools of architecture

20 National Higher Schools of Architecture (ENSA), public administrative establishments under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, award the State Diploma in Architecture. Two of them, in Bordeaux and Lille, also offer training leading to the State Landscape Design Diploma.
Architectural training is multidisciplinary. It combines teaching specific to the architectural discipline (architectural and urban design, history and theory of architecture and the city, representation of space), enriched and articulated with knowledge from other disciplines (arts, sociology, history, science and technology, urban planning, landscape, IT, modern languages).
