Architecture: an evolving profession

Architecture is a vibrant profession that is constantly evolving. Agencies continue to recruit and establish themselves, particularly among young professionals. Approximately one in five agencies plans to recruit in the coming years.

What do architects actually do?

Contrary to popular belief, the job is not limited to designing new buildings. Today:

  • 95% of agencies work on existing buildings
  • 91% work on housing
  • Renovation and conversion are at the heart of the business.

The architect is involved in:

  • adapt buildings to current uses
  • improve comfort and quality of life

A variety of careers after graduation

Architecture studies lead to several career opportunities, depending on your profile and choices: architect in an agency, project manager, interior designer, project management assistant, programmer, consulting, environmental, digital, project coordination, construction economics.

We don't all become the same type of architect, and that's a good thing.

A profession committed to ecological transition

Architecture is now at the heart of climate issues:
• Energy-efficient renovation is growing rapidly
• Two out of three agencies use bio-based materials
• Renovation is the sector's leading economic opportunity

Choosing architecture also means choosing a profession that is useful to society.

Demanding but professionalizing studies

The programs include internships, HMONP (a French certification for pharmacists), and sometimes work-study programs, and 41% of agencies welcome students. This helps develop creativity, rigor, autonomy, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility.

Architecture studies train adaptable professionals who are capable of working in many different fields related to the built environment.
