Conference - "What makes a project" by Heleen Hart
  • School life

10/04 at 6pm - Jean Duminy Amphitheatre - France

The aim is to share what drives and underpins our architectural practice at Atelier HBAAT (Heleen Hart and Mathieu Berteloot) through the presentation of projects for the transformation of existing buildings. "In the course of these modest projects, the HBAAT studio has honed a language in line with the regionalism theorized by historian and critic Kenneth Frampton. It's an approach that applies to everyday architecture, without disarming in the face of the difficulty of bringing these projects to fruition in these territories with their uncertain economies.
With each new project, the studio pursues the same goal: to save on finishing touches - plastering, painting, tiling - which detract from the essence of the project, require maintenance, and eat up money that could be spent on a garden, more floor space, a growing program (...)".

Excerpt from "L'architecture, une matière en construction" Portrait of Cyrille Veran, D'Architecture, Dec. 2018.
