As Gaston Bachelard put it, astonishment leads us to question normative frameworks and their criteria, and invites us to reinterrogate the everyday, to take a critical distance from contemporary issues. In short, to hypothesize that what is - easy, quick, reproducible - is fading away in favor of what will be - hospitable, enduring and sometimes imperfect.
