City and Territories

Presentation

After graduating in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano (2004), I initially worked in architectural firms in Italy and Switzerland. To pursue my interest in teaching and research, I then embarked on a PhD thesis in Urban Planning and Architecture (2013, Université Grenoble-Alpes). I worked at the Grenoble Institute of Urban Planning (as a research assistant and research engineer between 2009 and 2016) and at the Grenoble National School of Architecture (as an associate lecturer from 2015 to 2020). I am currently an Associate Professor in the field of Cities and Territories at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Normandie (since 2020).
My main research activities are in the field of urban and architectural design, particularly in relation to sustainable mobility and socio-environmental vulnerabilities, mainly in European contexts. Since my thesis, I have also been interested in the question of research through multi-scale projects.
My work, often carried out within multidisciplinary research teams (architecture, urban planning, landscape, sociology, history, engineering, etc.), currently focuses on new ways of designing inhabited spaces in order to adapt them to climate change; on systemic processes for transforming urban heritage from a circular urban planning perspective; on the design of public spaces as a lever for encouraging sustainable mobility (soft modes, public transport, multimodality); and on urban and architectural design that promotes health (particularly for older people).
