Gabriella TROTTA-BRAMBILLA

After graduating in Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano (2004), I obtained a PhD in Urban Planning-Architecture (2013, Université Grenoble-Alpes). I worked at the Institut d'urbanisme de Grenoble (ATER, research engineer and contract teacher, between 2009 and 2016) and at the École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Grenoble (Associate Lecturer from 2015 to 2020). I am currently Maître de Conférences in the Ville et Territoires field at the École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Normandie (since 2020). I coordinate the Urbanités et ruralités résilientes (URRbs) research axis within the Architecture-Territoire-Environnement (ATE-ENSAN) laboratory.

My main research activities are in the field of urban and architectural design, particularly in relation to sustainable mobility and socio-environmental vulnerabilities, mainly in European contexts. Also, since my thesis, I have been interested in the issue of multiscalar project research.

My work, often carried out within multidisciplinary research teams (architecture, urban planning, landscape, sociology, history, engineering, etc.), now focuses on new ways of designing inhabited spaces to adapt them to climate change; on systemic processes for transforming urban heritage from a circular urbanism perspective; on the design of public spaces as a lever for encouraging sustainable mobility (soft modes, public transport, multimodality); on health-friendly urban and architectural design (particularly for the elderly).
