Atelier Venustas

Tuesday, December 16, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. - Grand Hall - France

The venustas workshop sees the architectural project as a cultural act that translates into built forms and spaces the political, economic and social logics that make up the contemporary city. Without aiming narrowly at beautification, this workshop places aesthetic issues at the same level of attention in semester 9 as those of firmitas and utilitas in semesters 7 and 8. In 2025, the workshop has taken as its subject some fifteen sites and buildings in the commune of Malaunay.

A lively dive into the Risle

Video - "Ecosystem" by Paul Barrault

Paul Barrault has created an animated video for the S09 AVT Workshop - Vallée de la Risle in Brionne. In 1min20, he takes us into an augmented cut where scientific observation and imagination intermingle to reveal the secret dynamics of the natural environment. His work starts with total immersion: precise plant inventories, meticulous drawings, texture surveys... and ends with the creation of a soundtrack entirely composed from sounds captured on site. The sound contrast between the highway interchange and the vitality of an almost untamed nature becomes the narrative thread of his exploration.

Find this video HERE and lots of other content fromENSA Normandie including our conferences, meetings, and student projects—on our YouTube channel.
