Conference - "Objects - Resources

Monday, September 8, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - Jean Duminy Amphitheatre - France

Conference by Côme Rollin, Olivier Thomas and Mathieu Volkovitch, Amor Immeuble

"[...] The Amor Immeuble group of architects is concerned with the material conditions of the world as it is: fragmented, senseless, saturated by the innumerable objects we produce but, above all, discard. Their awareness of the inexorable scarcity of raw materials is matched by a vertigo in the face of unsuspected deposits of repressed things,
[...] "Resource objects" rather than "found objects", they are less one-offs than series, indicative not of scarcity but of the bygone abundance of our modern, industrial past. [...] At a distance from current doctrines of reuse, recycling or up-cycling, which often reduce resources to their mere technical performance with a view to their exploitation, Amor Immeuble's proposals combine the poetic and political, cultural and aesthetic dimensions of the fragments they manipulate in order to release their full architectural power."

The building, rehabilitated by the architect Patrice Mottini, now offers 4,000 m2 of floor space dedicated to the teaching of architecture.

RETURNED 06 - Situation

Exhibition - Le Laboratoire Maxime Old: when our students reinvent furniture at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen

Until January 5, 2026, Rouen's Musée des Beaux-Arts is hosting a major exhibition dedicated to Maxime Old, an architect, cabinetmaker and decorator renowned for his emblematic contributions to the city. This retrospective highlights his work and influence in the field of decorative arts.

An innovative partnership with the École nationale supérieure d'Architecture de Normandie

In parallel, the S6 Situation workshop, led by Sophie Cambrillat, Dominique Lefrançois and Kacha Legrand, engaged 3rd-year students in an original project: to design furniture inspired by the work of Maxime Old, adapted to the museum's contemporary uses. The furniture created questions postures, interactions and uses in a public museum space.

Modular creations to rethink the museum as a living space

The students imagined modular, flexible pieces - chairs, sofas, drawer units - that promote conviviality, equality of speech and invite discovery. Inspired in particular by the African palaver chair, this furniture invites a renewed museum experience, where space becomes a place for exchange and sharing.

"Le Laboratoire Maxime Old

The museum offers "Le Laboratoire Maxime Old," a dedicated space displaying furniture, models, and documents from its collaboration withENSA Normandie. This laboratory invites visitors to rethink the museum's functions through the lens of student creativity and the dialogue between past and present.

Future architects apprenticing in the field to imagine tomorrow

On Tuesday, May 13, 39 students from the Darnétal-based ENSA (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture) came to immerse themselves in the typical environment of the Brotonne peninsula, accompanied by their teachers Luc Perrot and Jérôme Le Goff. Arriving by train at Yvetot station, they walked to La-Mailleraye-sur-Seine, first discovering the farmlands of the plateau, then crossing the Brotonne Bridge. Welcomed by Yves Delaune, deputy mayor of Arelaune-en-Seine and, above all, a geographer, they discussed the specific architectural and landscape features of the area, which includes wetlands and a large forest. For these future architects, it's a question of observing in order to imagine the future, by taking up the challenge of environmental transition, "by decarbonizing construction, designing passive houses with zero energy, and envisaging innovative forms of mobility".
For Luc Perrot, "it's essential to draw on the experience of local players and the knowledge of local residents and users".
