Objectives
The objective is to introduce students to the collective housing program by crossing spatial, constructive, plastic and cultural issues in phase with contemporary stakes
Content
Semester 4's project teaching is devoted to collective housing.
It is organized in 2 parts: analysis-exploration and project.
We begin the semester by discovering the elements that make up the domestic question, and manipulating them in exercises that will help you to envisage a housing project.
The semester begins with an analysis of a remarkable building, then is structured around
4 short, off-site typological exercises. Each exercise involves a specific problem and a specific mode of representation.
Finally, the semester ends with a sited collective housing project.
Period 1: analysis & exploration
The first stage is a collective, comparative analysis of remarkable and significant projects. The second stage is organized around exercises focusing on the design of apartments and their assembly according to different variables.
Stage 2: project
Collective housing project located on a business site in Darnétal. The aim is to transform and adapt existing buildings with their own specific features into housing, while questioning their domestic qualities and uses. The aim is to identify and qualify existing potentialities, considering them as a potential for spatial experimentation.
