Common Objectives for Semesters 5, 6, 7, and 8
Lecture courses on the architect’s craft and profession are organized into five thematic sessions spread across semesters 5, 6, 7, and 8. The goal of this progressive curriculum is to provide an overview of the profession and its practice environment, enabling students to better understand the current challenges facing the profession, as well as the architect’s role and place in this evolving context: the growing number of partners in project management, the segmentation and diversification of the profession, the reevaluation of the architect’s place and role within the system of stakeholders in the building process, changes in the legislative and contractual framework, and the shift in public policy toward delegating urban planning to large private construction and public works conglomerates…

S7 – Professional Challenges, Firm Structure, Contractual Framework, and Construction Site Practices:
This 6-class session addresses very specific issues that every student is likely to encounter during their professional internships. The goal is to acquire tools that provide a better understanding of the world of architecture firms, particularly regarding firm structure, types of public contracts, comprehensive contracts, and on-site construction practices.

Evaluation method
• Continuous assessment: a graphical summary to be completed in 20 minutes at the end of class; the average accounts for 20% of the final grade
• Final exam: a graphical summary addressing a question from the course, completed in person; 80% of the grade
